The Rosebuds Halaqa is a halaqa for Muslim tween girls (approx ages 10-13). The idea
behind the Rosebud halaqa is to create an Islamic environment for our budding Muslim tweens
where they can form a sense of belonging, create positive relationships, strengthen their
self-esteem, learn important life skills, have clean fun and most importantly, create a healthy
support group made up of their own peers that they can fall back on as they navigate through
life. All the while growing closer to Allah SWT week after week, halaqa after halaqa.

Why Rosebuds?
The Rosebud symbolizes something that will one day be incredibly beautiful when it has fully
blossomed – it’s not quite there yet but it has the potential to be so promising if it’s
nurtured properly. This is so much like our tweens who are caught somewhere between childhood
and teenage years.
When looking at the Rosebud, notice its features. For starters, think of the Rose Petals.
There are often multiple odd-numbered petals on every rose stem. Rose petals have many qualities
that they are famous for: they are healing, soothing to irritated skin. Roses, too, have many
famous qualities: they are beautiful, fragrant, colorful, delicate, promising, look up to the
sun and light. They also have thorns…
Each of these qualities serve as monthly themes for the halaqa. The point is whatever the monthly
theme is, that through the discussions and activities that month the girls are left with a more
Islamic understanding and outlook on life. The end goal being that through these themed monthly
halaqas they build up their relationship with their Creator.
