Murabbiyah Mentorship Program
This is a very unique program that prepares ladies who are currently leading (or have plans to lead) a Halaqa for young girls (ages 6-9), tween girls (ages 10-13) and teen girls. It pairs them with a mentor who can advise them on what to teach the girls in their halaqa and connects them with other Murbbiyat (halaqa leaders) like themselves around the country to share ideas, lesson plans, activities, etc. This program was designed for leaders of the Rosebuds Halaqas and the Busy Bees Halaqas (girls ages 6-9) but is open to leaders of other tween and teen halaqas.
Definition of a Murabbiyah
Murabbiyah – a female mentor
In the Islamic tradition, the Murabbi(yah) is one who actively partakes in raising and mentoring a child
alongside the parents. The Murabbi(yah) would provide counseling and reinforce Islamic knowledge that the child would learn at home and school. This mentor would be a reliable, upright, Muslim with sound Islamic understanding that could aid the child through the joyful years of childhood into the somewhat turbulent years of adolescence and finally into wholesome adulthood to become a confident Muslim and productive member of society. Most importantly, the Murabbi(yah) would help the child/tween/teen grow closer to Allah (SWT) and build a strong connection with their Lord- a connection that will serve as the guiding light throughout his or her life.
Drawing from the long standing experience of their spiritual mentors and religious instructors, the Rahmah Foundation teachers have developed a halaqa for Muslim girls that would imbue them with an Islamic environment and give them a much needed support group – especially for adolescents.
